Our mental health clinic in Belize City

It’s hard sometimes to think about finding a counselor or psychologist in Belize because we have always been so private about mental health challenges. We are all used to traveling abroad or suffering in silence because we are afraid that our personal stories will be shared. While the last few years have seen a rise in mental health professionals, we are still sometimes hesitant to find a mental health professional in Belize.

If you are looking for a life coach, counselor, therapist, or psychologist- I’d like to help you find someone who can help.

I want to help you find a therapist in Belize

Belize is known for its exotic location. We are located between Central America and the Caribbean which gives us forest land and sea ;we get the best of both worlds. You have probably seen tons of blogs about the top resort or food to try in Belize to visit in buoys today will be talking about what to expect from counseling therapy in Belize.

How to find a therapist in Belize

counseling or therapy is it something that we always talk about so openly for one we aren’t always accustomed to talking about our mental health out loud so what do you type

Tip #1

Check LinkedIn. This is a great place to start because it gives you the credentials of counselors and psychologist. You want your therapist to aleast have a Masters degree with practical experience. A clinician with these type of degree has experience and had supervision which is important to be able to help you process your thoughts, feelings and behavior. Therapy is more than just talking and requires specialized training. Write a list of all the potential therapist that you find. I remember when I was looking for a therapist, and the first thing I did was search LinkedIn. I found 3 therapist that I felt their profile seems to be a good fit.

Tip #2
The next thing I did was to check each of their other social media pages to get a feel of them before I started calling.

Check if they have a social media business page whereby you can get to know a little about who they are. If their style and language speak to you. Connection is a key element in counseling and therapy. Apart from a clinician degree, your connection is really what makes a whole lot of difference. Checking their professional page will give you an idea of who you want to work with by narrowing down your list.

Tip #3

Ask around if you are comfortable. Each person’s experience may be different and that’s totally okay. The reason for this is that each therapist has their own style and generally a person has a better review when they feel understood by their therapist and the therapist’s style works for their personality.

Tip #4

Call or WhatsApp their number to inquire more about their process. Usually, they would explain how to make an appointment. Notice what it was like talking to the person on the phone.

Finding the right therapist is like shopping for a new lipstick. You may have to try more than one to find the one that speaks to your mood and your energy.
